Admission procedures for foreign applicants are identified in the following document "Procedure for the admission of foreign applicants in SPbSPU in 2011".
SPbSPU offers wide range of Bachelor degree programs, Master degree programs and International Master degree programs in Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Science, Economics and Humanities.
Institute of International Educational Programs (IIEP) - one of the largest unit of SPbSPU, founded in 1996 on the basis of the University's Preparatory Department for international students as a comprehensive academic institution to adapt international experience in higher education, design and provide international education programs either for Russian or international students.
Higher education is provided by public and non-public (non-State) accredited higher education institutions. There are two levels of higher education:
- Basic higher education (4 years) leading to the Bachelor's degree, the first university level degree.
- Postgraduate higher education (5-6 years or more). After two years, students are entitled to receive a Master degree. It is equivalent to a Master Degree (M.Sc, M.A.) in the US or Western Europe. After a Master degree, students can continue to study towards a doctoral degree: the first level, equivalent to Ph.D. and the second, highest level, equivalent to Professor.
Since 1992, Russian higher education has introduced a multilevel system, enabling higher education institutions to award and issue the following types of degrees and diplomas:
- Bachelor of Science degree (not less than 4 years of training)
- Master of Science degree (2 years of training after Bachelor degree)
- Diploma Specialist (5-5,5 years of training) - final qualifying degree
Entry requirements:
on entering the following programs you need:
- Bachelor of Science program: Secondary School Certificate
- Master of Science program: students may apply to enter the Master degree program only having obtained the Bachelor degree.
- Diploma Specialist program: Secondary School Certificate
- Postgraduate courses: graduates have the right to enter postgraduate courses only after having obtained Master of Science degree.
The management of admission of foreign applicants in the first year of university carries on Dean of foreign students IIEP Vladimir A. Dolgopolov. Reception of documents is provided by:
