The Department staff includes 3 professors, DSc, 10 associates professors and candidates of science, and 25 senior lecturers.
The Department is a powerful educational and cultural center with wide possibilities for artistic and professional growth. It’s grounded on well-developed infrastructure of Institute of International Educational Programs as well as on the professional competence of academic staff in information technologies and in artistic disciplines.
The Department provides basic education in media technologies for students of all levels and has 3 main specialties:

Main disciplines include:
- Informatics and programming, databases development, computational systems, networks and telecommunication, information systems, information technologies
- Development tools for multimedia and web application design, computer graphics, animation and cartoon, three-dimensional computer animation
- Painting, types and visual communication, drawing and special graphics, color and chromatics, corporate identity systems, creative photography
- Composition, Illustrative graphics, Sculpture and plastic modeling
Printing industry technologies, Spatial design, Corporate Identity, Typography
A number of courses are conducted in English.
Students of The Department of Information technologies in design have an experience of taking part in international competitions in and outside of Russia.
The Department of Information technologies in design has several laboratories to facilitate students’ work:
- Computer graphics and visualization Lab with panoramic and stereo projecting equipment
- Authorized Apple computer center, including 30 Apple computers photo and video studio equipped with modern hardware.
- Video editing lab with 4 studios of non-linear editing
- lab of electronic educational facility, including:
- Video conferencing equipment (for up to 42 participants)
- Server computers for location of courses and text-books
- 2 modern computing classes including 40 computers (based on PC Intel XEON 2,0)
While studying the students also make full use of all the possibilities of IIEP's modern infrastructure, well-equipped computer classrooms, access to the Internet resources, modern video and projecting equipment.
Main areas of research at the Department of Information technologies in design are:
- Three-dimensional modeling and visualization technologies
- Visualization of scientific data and research results with the help of multimedia technologies
- Adaptive methods of computational mathematics and mechanics
- Three-dimensional interactive interfaces and web applications
- Design of vertical planting systems for interior spaces
- Modern education methods and approaches: distant learning and multimedia support
- Development and design of computer simulators
